Church LinksThe school benefits from strong links with St Michael and All Angels Church here in Fringford. Children take part in the main Christian Celebrations down at the Church and in turn the Church supports the work and life of the school. The Reverand Bill Muncey is a School Governor and actively promotes links between the Church, school and our local community and he also takes our Thursday school assembly. |

Shelswell and Fringford PlaygroupShelswell and Fringford Playgroup is a pre-school setting for children in and around the parish of Shelswell in the heart of Oxfordshire. They are a charity organisation managed by a committee of volunteer parents. They are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, and are supported by the Oxfordshire County Council Early Years team. They have a board of Custodian Trustees who meet at least twice a year and who oversee the long-term maintenance of the building and the role of the pre-school within the Shelswell benefice. The Playgroup accept children from the start of the September, January and April terms after they turn 2 yrs 6 months until the end of the school year before they have their fifth birthday (ie the end of July before they begin their F1 (Reception) year). They serve many local villages and welcome families from the neighbouring market town of Bicester. Playgroup operates from a semi-permanent single storey timber lodge with ramp access in the grounds of Fringford C of E Primary School. Inside the building they have a large playroom, children’s bathrooms and a cloakroom area for the children to use. The Playgroup enjoys a well-equipped outside area which has areas of timber decking, an all-weather surface, grass, concrete paths and a vegetable garden ensuring children enjoy a free flow play environment. Cooper SchoolThe majority of our pupils go on to Cooper School for their secondary education. This is a mixed comprehensive for boys and girls aged 11 to 19, which gained Specialist Science School status in 2005, in the local Market Town of Bicester. We enjoy strong links with the school through sporting and community events. Our Year 6 pupils attend a day’s induction during the final part of their school year to aid easy transition from primary to secondary, which parents, pupils and staff see as a very positive process. |
