The school is always reluctant to authorise a closure because of the impact on pupil learning and family arrangements. In the event of a school closure, the decision to close to pupils is made as early in the morning as possible so that families have time to put alternate arrangements in place if needed. However, there might be occasions when a school closure is announced during the school day. Factors taken into consideration when deciding to close the school include:
- pupils and staff being able to make their journey to and from school safely;
- enough teachers in school to supervise pupils safely, enough staff to keep the site heated and pathways clear and to provide services such as catering, answering the phone and first aid;
- pupils and staff being able to move around the site safely and not be put at risk of injury through trip and falls.
In the event of a closure, the situation is reviewed daily and our website will be updated with relevant information.
